No Prince by Stevie J Cole & LP Lovell

Zepp Hunt is a high school senior with a bad boy reputation.

Monore James was sassy, stubborn, and smart but she was no princess. Okay. Let’s get into it!

Monroe James stole a car from one of the bad boys in town, Zepp Hunt. Well, actually he stole from her, but she needed it back. When Zepp learns who stole finds the car, he confronts Monroe. She vaguely explains her situation.

Zepp makes a deal with her. He will return the vehicle but she is his for three months. Meaning, she has to follow through with his demands–legal and not so legal.

Although she despises Zepp, she adheres to his commands. But the more she is around him, she feels her defensive walls crumbling.

Zepp discovers things about her. As his hate dissolves, he realizes things about her and he also learns things about himself. Things he didn’t face in the past.

When he realizes he’s in too deep, he must make the ultimate sacrifice–as he concludes Monroe deserves so much more.

The authors portrayed the characters’ dynamics phenomenally. The story was gritty and raw. Zepp and Monroe’s chemistry bounced off the page. I didn’t want it to end!

This book reminds me of that last piece of cake.  You eat it slowly because it’s so delicious but you want to devour it at the same time for the same reason, and when it’s gone, you’re looking for more.

I’m hoping for a part two to learn more other side characters in the book–Jane in particular.

What did you think about No Prince. I believe you know my answer. I loved it!

5/5

Excerpt

“I want you to remember, Faith,” he said softly. “I want you to remember all the good times and leave out the bad ones.”
“I don’t think I get to pick and choose.”
“We both did things we weren’t proud of. Things that I’d be happy for you to forget. But if it comes back to you, I want you to know that I’m sorry. It was my fault.”
I wanted to ask him what we’d done, what awful things we’d put each other through. But I was afraid to know. Maybe, in some ways, my memory loss was a blessing. All the bad things had been wiped clean while for Will, he had to live with them each day, had to remember every word, every hurtful action.
I leant in closer and rested my head on his chest. At first his body stiffened, then he relaxed, put his arm around me and held me close.
We laid like that for a time while something skimmed the sky high above us.
“Look a shooting star,” he said.
“The International Space Station.”
“Show off.”
I giggled. Then he bent his head, put his lips on mine and kissed me.

Dangerous Game by L.P. Dover

Dangerous Game
L.P. Dover
(An Armed & Dangerous/Circle of Justice Crossover Novel, #1)
Publication date: November 18th 2019
Genres: Adult, Romance, Suspense

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author L.P. Dover comes the crossover fans having been waiting for! Beloved characters from her Armed & Dangerous and Circle of Justice novels come together in this tantalizing new series!

For years, my family was on top.
Ruthless.
Respected.
Feared.

That all changed with the death of my father. As I moved into the position of power over the Corsino empire, enemies to the family tried to take over my city. They thought I would be weakened by my loss. They don’t know me.

My name is Dominic Corsino, and I have a ravenous appetite for money, power, and women. The last of which I pushed aside when Faith Hilliard, a close family friend, turned up in need of help. I’ve always wanted her, yet couldn’t bring myself to involve her in the dark savagery of my world. Now, she’s within my grasp once more. If I didn’t fear her running from my brutal truth, I would have already tasted her sweet temptation.

But the time for hesitation passes when a fighter in my underground ring is murdered. With my family name at stake, I can no longer hide who I am and what I’m capable of. It’s all coming down to a one winner-takes-all match. If I walk away with the prize, the threats against the Corsinos will be crushed. If I lose, our entire empire will crumble.

It’s a dangerous game … and I’m ready to play.

EXCERPT:

The fight was almost done. Dominic’s fighter didn’t have a single drop of blood on him. All it took was a couple more punches and the Salvatore fighter was on the mat, his face a swollen, bloody mess.

Sam hooted and hollered in celebration, prodding me to celebrate with him. “Come on, Faith. Your team just won.”

If only I’d known I had a team. I stood with him and clapped along with everyone in the crowd. Marco handed out the stacks of money to those who made the right bets, and once that was done, he took the largest amount of cash over to Dominic and handed it over. I’d never seen that much money before.

“This seriously can’t be legal,” Sam said, gazing around in awe.

“That doesn’t bother you?” I countered. If he only knew the things I did.

Judging by the look on his face, it didn’t. “Not at all,” he said, shaking his head. He was starstruck. The room was filled with some of the richest people in New York City. With the right connections, his brewery could skyrocket. It was scary how money could blind you.

Tons of people walked up to Dominic to congratulate him and he met them all with a smile on his face. There were even a couple of women who tried to rub up on him and he moved away without giving them a second notice. Deep down it gave me a level of satisfaction to see that, but it still didn’t change the fact that he kept a huge secret from me.

“Why are you standing over here and not with Dominic?” Sam asked, nodding over at Dominic. I met his gaze and when I didn’t answer, he sucked in a breath. “Oh my God, you didn’t know about all of this, did you?”

I shook my head. “Dominic failed to mention it.”

His eyes widened. “What the hell? I’m so sorry. Do we need to go?”

“Probably. I don’t want him knowing I’m here.” A part of me wanted to go right up to Dominic so he’d know I was there, but the other wanted to test him, to see if he’d ever tell me the truth. However, it didn’t look like I’d get to do either of those things. You know how in the movies there would be a crowded room and the two lovers were destined to make eye contact? That was exactly what happened. Dominic found me from across the room and froze. My heart stopped and everything around me ceased to exist. There was no sound, only the pounding of my pulse in my ears.

Sam grabbed my arm. “Faith! What do we do?”

The spell had broken, and I sucked in a breath. By now, Reed had seen me and both him and Dominic tried to get through the crowd. It wasn’t the right time or place to confront him. I squeezed Sam’s arm. “You can stay here, but I have to go. Thank you for tonight.”

Turning on my heel, I hurried toward the door, but I didn’t get far before someone stepped in my way. “I should’ve known you’d find your way down here.”

Dominic and Reed still hadn’t managed to get through all the people, but I was running out of time. I looked up at Isaiah who had a smug grin on his face. “Yeah, well, I’m resourceful like that.” I tried to step past him, but he blocked me again. “Seriously, Isaiah, you need to get out of my way.”

He crossed his arms over his chest. “You’re not thinking of running off, are you?”

I wasn’t the type to run away from anything. I faced my problems head on. Huffing, I pursed my lips. “Actually, I want to go to my room. In a matter of minutes, Dominic will be pushing through that swarm of people,” I said, pointing at the mob behind me. “And when he does, I don’t want to be here. He can find me upstairs.”

Isaiah’s gaze narrowed, but then he nodded. “Okay. I’ll make sure you get up there.”

In other words, he probably didn’t believe me and had to make sure I didn’t try to run away. Instead of going to the door I came in, Isaiah led me to a red door at the far end of the room. Once we made it through, there was a long hallway and a set of elevators. Things were about to change. I could feel it.

EXCERPT:

“You had a plan when you walked into my office five minutes ago. What was it?” He gripped the edge of the armrest with both hands, crossing his legs at his ankles. The tiny flame in my chest grew bigger and spread down to my core.

“I had no plan.” I admitted because the extent of my thoughts when he texted was to come in here and have sex. All I could think of was touching him and feeling his weight on me again. But now I was a little pissed. He could’ve been more explicit. Like, hey, I’m just here to work, bring me the report. No sex. Get your mind out of the gutter. He could also wipe that knowing smile off his face. “What makes you think I had a plan?” I crossed my arms over my chest to cover my hardened nipples.

He rubbed the side of his face. “The thigh-high stockings. You know how they drive me wild. Even if I can’t see them, I know that’s the only kind you own.”

If that was true, why was he still five feet away from me? Why had he not ripped my clothes off already and had his way with me on the couch?

“I have a meeting to go to.” I bolted to the door. Before I could open it, his large hand pressed against it, effectively blocking me from leaving.

“I don’t think so.” His voice was deep and so full of meaning. He walked me back to the living area until my butt hit the back of the sofa. “You had a plan. Show me.” He gripped my waist and shifted so he was the one caged in.

I could go, or I could stay and get what I came here for. I slipped my hands inside his suit jacket and pushed it off his shoulders. His dark gaze stayed on me as I removed his dress shirt. A low moan like a hiss escaped his lips when I ran my hands down his muscled chest. His pecs were harder than I remembered. It seemed Derek’s hard body was directly proportional to the amount of stress he had at work. The more they pinned on him, the more time he spent in his boxing ring. These past three weeks must have been hell for him.

“Now you.” His voice sounded strained.

Self-control was Derek’s superpower. I gave up all pretenses and removed my blazer and silky top quickly. My skin felt hot from needing him so much. His lips parted when I finally let my skirt pool at my feet.

He cradled my face and kissed me hard. “Fuck. Valentina. You came to work wearing that underneath?” His mouth was warm, and he tasted of cinnamon gum. I melted into him, fumbling with his belt.

“The door.” I panted in between kisses.

“I locked it.” He gripped my ass and wrapped my legs around his waist as he strode around the sofa and sat with me straddling him. “Valentina. How do you do it? How do you make me forget about everything?” He freed me from my bra and sucked on my aching nipples, switching back and forth until I couldn’t wait anymore.

“I need you now,” I whispered in his ear.

I didn’t care that my voice was laced with desperate desire. He cupped my butt cheeks and lifted me enough to give him room to lie flat on the cushions with his head on the decorative pillow. My thighs rubbed his sides as I rested on top of him, topless and without a clue what to do next.

My confusion must have registered on my face because he placed both hands behind his head and grinned at me. His biceps bulged on either side of him.

“Your show.”

“What?”

He bucked under me to get comfortable, as if he were getting ready to watch a movie or something. The grin that twitched his lip was both infuriating and such a turn-on.

“You want me inside you. Do it.”

Just Alex by Angela Flowers

Just Alex
Angela Flowers
Publication date: November 15th 2019
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Xander Stone is one of the hottest popstars in the world. His songs are on every radio station. His face graces the cover of every top magazine, especially the tabloids.

Everyone adores him.

Except me.

I hate him.

Xander Stone took away the one person I care about more than anything. My best friend.

Oh, and the real kicker? Xander Stone is my best friend. At least he was at one time. Back when he was just Alex.

Goodreads / Amazon

EXCERPT:

silhouetted figure stepped on stage. The lights snapped on and there he was. For a split second, I saw my Alex, then his lips curved into his trademark Xander smile, the music started, and he began to sing. My eyes followed him as memories of the boy he used to be saturated my mind, drowning me in a sea of grief all over again.

“He’s brilliant, isn’t he?” Lena asked.

Unable to drag my eyes from the stage, I nodded. He really was. I should be happy for him, and I wanted to be, but I couldn’t stop the sadness from overshadowing it all.

I missed my friend.

Don’t get me wrong, I was proud of his success. I’d always known he was meant to be more — famous even. Hell, I’d been his number one supporter, yet I would be lying if I said I didn’t feel some resentment. I missed my friend and hated that Xander Stone had taken him away from me.

All around me people cheered, danced, and screamed Xander’s name, driving home the painful truth. Our lives were dramatically different now. He was a famous singer living on the road, visiting a different city or country each night, and I was a simple college student sharing an apartment with my roommate. He went to elaborate parties where people sipped expensive champagne from crystal flutes, while I attended the occasional campus party where people drank cheap beer and vodka from plastic cups.

Choking back a sob, I excused myself before blindly making my way out onto the main concourse, where I leaned back against the cement wall. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath. When I opened them again, I spotted a merchandise kiosk and found myself taunted by Xander Stone’s face on tee shirts, hats, and hoodies.

“Sade?”

I turned to Drew, who was now standing beside me.

“Hey,” I croaked.

“You okay?” he asked as his sea-green eyes searched my face.

“Not really.”

“Want to talk about it?”

“Not really.”

“Then how about a drink?” He took my hand and led me to the nearest vendor.

I took the soda he held out to me and took a long sip, letting the cool liquid soothe my aching throat.

“So,” he said casually, “what do you think of our boy? He’s come a long way, hasn’t he?”

Forcing a smile, I said, “He was born for this but we always knew that.”

“It’s still surreal isn’t it?” He glanced at me as we stopped in front of the black curtain separating us from the rest of the arena. “Lena will get a kick out of partying with the guys after the show, you know. Talk about a dream birthday celebration.”

Nodding, I shuffled my feet as the need to move became too much.

He was right; Lena would have a blast. Plus, I knew he was excited about spending time with Alex even though the two of them still talked on a regular basis.

When I’d first found out that I was the only one Alex seemed to have forgotten about I’d been hurt, but I’d gotten over it when it became clear that a ‘regular basis’ meant something completely different to guys. Apparently, a short text every couple of months was enough for them to keep their friendship intact.

“Hey, it’s going to be fine,” Drew said. “You can do this. Even though he’s famous now, he’ll always be just Alex to us.”

That was where he was wrong. Alex was never going to be ‘just Alex’ again.

EXCERPT:

I needed to get laid. At least, that’s what my amber cocktail made me think—correction, my third amber cocktail. If the first two hadn’t murdered my inhibition, the third managed to land the final blow.

Minus my usual filter, my eyes wandered around the room, hunting for a man to prey on. The bar was packed for a Tuesday night. Waves of chatter encompassed me, creating a low hum in my ears. But I didn’t care about the noise, not when a particular delicious specimen held me captivated, with hair the hue of rich caramel sticking out in different directions. He sat at the bar, hunched over his drink. A brunette with boobs practically spilling out of her top tried to speak to him, but he shook his head and tapped in front of his ear twice, before turning back to his drink.

She may have slinked back to her friend, but I bit my lip, taming down the grin threatening to split my face. Perfect. My fingers itched to communicate, or smooth down his messy hair.

Perhaps both.

Before I could make up my mind, his broad shoulders stiffened and he turned. My alcohol-induced bravado vanished, and I tried to wrench my gaze away. Except, I didn’t move. Not an inch. Total disconnect from cranial activity to body movement. Damn fruity drinks. A pair of brown eyes locked with mine. Crap. I knew better than to be rude and stare.

Quick, sign something, I willed my hands, anything.

Goodreads / Amazon

EXCERPT:

“It seems like Jack has a hard time playing nice with his friends,” Cass said.

“Look, Donovan, that may be, but you don’t need to punish him for it. Guys will be guys. They’re just working out their differences.” Coach Jenkins met Sawyer’s eyes. “Right, Dr. Ferris? Guys tend to play rough.”

Since Sawyer and his close proximity had been called out, he sidled up between the coach and the woman—who finally gave him a peek. And wow was the only word that came into his mind. Her asymmetrical haircut was cute and chic and so perfect for the delicate features of her face.

“Yeah, as a general rule. Guys fight and get over it.” He turned and stuck out his hand. “I’m Sawyer.”

Studying his face, she offered him a smile at the same time she offered him her hand. “Cass Donovan.”

“Donovan, I’ve got to deal with the post-game wrap-up in the locker room. We’ll talk next week.” Jenkins turned and hustled away.

Cass gave Sawyer her full attention, eyeing him with feminine curiosity. It was the equivalent of a shot of good whiskey easing, warm and smooth, throughout his body.

“It’s good to meet you.” She tilted her chin upward slightly. Her bulky wool coat hung open at the front, displaying her petite body and the slender line of her neck. “Are you a parent of one of the players on the team?”

“No. Just a family friend. Came to watch Ryder play.”

Immediately, at Ryder’s name, her face lit up, and a smile with dimples on either cheek brightened her face. It seemed as if all the anger from moments ago with Jenkins had faded away. “Ryder is a good kid.”

“He is. You’re new to town, right?”

“Moved here at the end of August,” she said, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear with her left hand. No ring.

“Just in time for the school year.”

Sawyer took a step closer while Cass surveyed him with the most enchanting honey-colored eyes he’d ever seen. It seemed intimate, her perusal, as if she were taking in every nuance of his face, and filing it away for future reference. And his face? Well, it wasn’t much to look at. A hawkish nose and a square jaw. He hadn’t shaved this evening before coming out, so he knew he was scruffy, and his goatee needed a trim. But he hadn’t cared. Wasn’t out to impress anyone. Except maybe now, he’d like to make an impression on Ms. Cass Donovan.

Without thought, he lifted his hand and scratched at the stubble on his face. “I’d love to get to know you, Cass. Would you like to go to dinner tomorrow night?”

Wide-eyed, she shook her head hard enough for the longer strands of hair to bounce up and cover her left eye, and then she brushed them back. “I don’t date.”

“I don’t bite.” His words must’ve caught her by surprise, because a sweet little trill of laughter bubbled out.

“Did I hear Coach call you Dr. Ferris?”

“Um, yeah. Most everyone just calls me Sawyer though,” he said.

“Oh?” She pursed her lips into a playful pout. She was teasing. The expression said as much. “So, a doctor that no one speaks of, huh? A proctologist?”

Sawyer chuckled. She was cute. And she had a sense of humor.

“No. But there is something about a proctologist that makes even the manliest man shudder. No, I’m a pharmacist. I own Krysset Apothecary on Main Street.”

Instantly, Cass shut down. The playfulness disappeared, and the smile fell from her face and crashed to the wood-planked floor of the gymnasium. Felt like his heart fell down there, too.

With the blandest expression, she said, “It was good to meet you, Dr. Ferris. Good night.” Then she whirled around and scurried away, leaving him to watch her nimbly mount the steps of the bleacher and disappear out the doors above.

Parker Prescott is determined to prove her wrong.
He chases Sydney.
She pushes him away until she can no longer fight her feelings.
The ice starts to melt.
Her defenses lower the more she learns about him. He’s not just another player.
Like her, Parker has issues he’s dealing with.
But she’s still so afraid to let him in.
And Parker fears he may never truly win her heart.

Can Sydney accept her intense feelings and trust that Parker won’t hurt her, and will she be there for him when he needs her the most?
