The Second We Met by Maya Hughes

Have you ever read a book and wished it didn’t have to end? That was how I felt about The Second We Met. It was a feel good story about trust, love, and following your heart. It was quick, intense, and believable. Let’s get into it!

Elle is the heroine of the story. She had been hurt multiple times by guys she thought that she could trust but that failed, causing her guard to go up. She was ready to reject any guy who crossed her path.

Unfortunately for Elle, she accidentally walked into her neighbor’s Nix house.  She thought she was walking into her new residence for her last year of college, instead she got an eyeful of his naked body. Initially, she couldn’t take her eyes off of his ripped figure. However, when she discovered who he was and what he did, a popular football player, she was immediately turned off, and did everything to stay clear of his presence.

Nix can’t understand Elle’s animosity. But considerate personality eventually caught her attention. However, he still detected that she was still holding back.

Being a football player he always had admirers that seemed to give him undue attention wherever he went. But there was only one thing he wanted to catch and it wasn’t on the field. It was his neighbor across the street. Someone that could change his world, Elle.

Despite her shell-like exterior, she slowly softened. In spite of it all, he wouldn’t stop until she was completely his. How would he do it? The challenge was on.

I enjoyed how the book flowered. I like that we get a view of Elle from his perspective, which is a little different from how others view her initially.

I also liked Elle’s altruistic attitude. She helped those in need. I mean, who doesn’t love someone like that?

The side characters also had an interesting story happening between them. I can’t wait to find out more about them in Maya Hughes upcoming book.

I highly recommend this book!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
